Lady M shutters all Singapore stores after licensing ends, brand may stage a comeback

Its website notes that a “new Lady M experience is taking shape”

New York patisserie Lady M has closed all its outlets in Singapore after 12 years of operation. Its outlets at Orchard Central, Ion Orchard, Westgate, and South Beach are all listed on Google Maps as permanently closed, while its Jewel Changi Airport branch is marked as temporarily closed.

However, a recent press statement indicates that the American company intends to maintain a presence in the market in a more direct capacity.

As of Jan 13, its Singapore website notes that “a new Lady M experience is taking shape,” and would be “coming soon.” Its Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram accounts remain active, with the most recent Facebook post dated Dec 29.

Lady M, renowned for its mille crepes—a cake made of thin, delicate layers—was founded in New York in 2001 and expanded to Singapore in 2013 through a licensing deal with Caerus Holding, which manages food and beverage brands. The move marked the patisserie’s first international expansion outside the United States.

The licensing relationship concluded on Dec 11, 2025, Lady M said in the press statement. “With the conclusion of the licensing agreement, Lady M is transitioning the market as part of its globally integrated strategy,” it explained.

The press release also hints at the possibility that change may bring the Singapore operations of the confectionery brand under more direct control.

Chief Executive Officer Ken Romaniszy said in the statement: “We believe that taking a more direct role in the Singapore market will allow us to further elevate the brand experience, enhance quality and consistency, and better serve our customers in the region.”

Checks done by The Straits Times on the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority’s Bizfile portal on Jan 13 show that Lady M Singapore remains an active company.

After expanding to Singapore, the brand entered China in 2017 but similarly shuttered all outlets there in 2022, following a directive from its then–exclusive operator. However, Lady M reopened in Shanghai in November 2024—marking its first directly operated store in China.

Vulcan Post has contacted Lady M for further comment.
